Default Voltage reducer getting warm

I wired my voltage reducer for my lights to the battery pack as indicated in a few posts I saw and I noticed it pretty much always draws current.

I check it this morning and it's warm even though theres nothing drawing current on.

Is this normal? Do I need to figure out a way to wire it through some type of switch so it's truly off when not in use? I hate the thought of something drawing current 24/7

You could wire it into your key switch, or just add an inline switch rated for your in/output.

If it does not have a switch feature you can use a relay like the one found in the chargers to power it up when the key is on. This will save power and increase the life span of the reducer.
