Default RXV backup lights

I'm thinking of putting LED backup lights on my 2016 RXV.

I know the rule of thumb for the RXV is "don't mess with the Controller wiring"... So with that in mind is it safe to wire a relay in parallel to the backup buzzer to operate the LEDs or can this create issues with the controller?

Thanks

Add a 48v to 12v reducer off the main battery pack to power the lights. Don't mess with any of the factory wiring.

I'm already running a 12v converter that I will use to power the LEDs via relay. I read somewhere that someone messed up their controller by cutting the wires to the reverse buzzer and I know that BobBoyce says never mess any controller wiring on an RXV. With that in mind I was hoping to put the relay in parallel with the reverse buzzer to trigger the LEDs. Obviously I don't want to do anything to risk my controller.

I understand what you are trying to get it to do, but I would not mess with any of the factory wiring. I would just go off my convertor with an additional switch. I blew a controller a while back in a silly attempt to silence a reverse buzzer and learned a very expensive lesson.

I would be concerned that the relay coil would interfere with the operation of the reverse beeper and inductively spike the controller when switching. The controllers reverse beeper driver output is a PWM output of pulses, not a steady state DC output.

Bob,
Hope that you're on the mend. Definitely not worth risking a controller for backup lights. I'm glad I asked.

I didn't realize that you were sick and sent you that controller. It should have arrived today. No rush on it, get well.
