Default Volt meter

I had my batteries disconnected for a week or so while I installed my new controller. Got everything wired back up today and now my volt meter blinks at the top bar. The back of the meter has 3 wires. I'm assuming its negative, positive and key switch. Now that I'm thinking about it I dont think I hooked up a positive lead to it. I have a digital meter piggy backed off of it and it shows fully charged.
