Default Engine runs clutches don't engage

1985 gas ezgo, 5" lift. Parked it, running great ,a year and a half ago, now it won't drive. It has these new parts; drive and driven clutch, starter generator brushes, carburetor, fuel pump, fuel filters, belts, plug and battery. Engine compression is 120/psi. The engine turns and sounds like it is at full rpm but the drive belt only drops into the driven clutch 2 inches thus not generating any power. with all the new parts I put on, I don't know what's causing this problem. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Maybe a stripped brake hub? see if one of the center axle nuts on either wheel is spinning while running in gear.

Thanks Stovebolt, on the jack stand passenger tire and castle nut spin equal and on the ground cart just creeps in forward and castle nuts move at the same speed as tire, slow. Also, cart goes faster in reverse than forward and rpm's don't seem to be high enough to engage new driven clutch. on the ground the belt just rides on top of driven clutch but on jack stands it drops about 2 inches and rpm's seem higher. Any other thoughts?

Could the starter generator belt be to tight? If I push on it it will drop about 1/4 inch or so

Is the belt coming to the top of the pulley on the drive clutch?

No it is not. If I take the belt off the drive clutch moves all the way in but not with the belt on

My guess is either bad drive clutch or not enough RPM to close it. Also 2 cycles are famous for bad crank seals, may try spraying a little starter fluid around them and see if RPM increases, other than that I'm out of ideas.

Maybe the smarter guys will be by.

The drive clutch only has about 2 hours on it. I do have a plow on the cart and was plowing 2 winters ago but it ran great and I parked it running. Where exactly should I spray the starter fluid, back by the clutch or by the oil injection? Thanks again

Behind the flywheel (have to pull the shroud) has it back fired?, that usually does it.

Does the RPM sound normal to you? Can't always trust new parts.

Also I take it the clutch has a keyway and not slipping on the shaft.

I may need to adjust the carb, the rpm's without the belt sound right but not with the belt on, it seems a little off but much better than the old carb. Maybe the seals went, I will try spraying. Does the 120 compression seem ok to you?
