Re: 1986 Club Car DS Newbie Post
New question for you guys as I continue moving forward (I got the motor installed last weekend which leads to this question): Do I need to change the rear end oil? The spline for the motor was a bit rusty (don't know how long this cart sat without a motor) so I hit it with a wire brush and some WD-40 to clean it up a bit. Motor slid on easily and the cart rolls easily enough but I don't want to fire this thing up one day and have an issue because I didn't consider the rear end. Anything I should check or do here or am I just being stupid?

Re: 1986 Club Car DS Newbie Post
That's kinda what I'm thinking. Any suggestions on oil (on the dual sport motorcycle page I am on this is a big joke with everyone when a newb comes in; I haven't seen anything on here like that yet. It's gotten so bad that when anyone asks an oil question (or tire, another hotly debated subject) they all say "Rotella"!)?
I have a go pedal question also but will post a new thread; appreciate any input on that one as well! |

According to the service manual it takes 22 oz. of 30 wt. I'll leave the brand up to you!

I see you made the same mistake as me and removed the rear fender flares. Have you found replacements? What do you plan on doing with that area? I ordered flares and they are intended to go over the molded fiberglass flares of the later years. Will not bolt on without and adapter or flare to bolt to.

Re: 1986 Club Car DS Newbie Post
My cart is rough (but getting better!) and the flares were pretty trashed and I decided that they weren't worth messing with, so I took them off. My thinking at this time is that I am going to leave it as is and after I paint/wrap the cart I will put some nice stainless button head bolts in to fill the holes. I am currently in San Diego and will be moving to southwestern Utah one day, so I am not worried about water shooting up or really needing flares. My cart will most likely only be used to cruise around the neighborhood or make a mailbox run (I don't even know if they would allow it on the golf course), and we don't see much rain in either location that the cart will be in.
