Default Question on replacement battery purchase for 06 Precedent

I need to buy 4 12v replacement batteries for my 06 Precedent. Considering buying these from Costco.

Are these any good and/or comparable to the Trojan batteries already in there?

https://www.costco.com/interstate-12...100476402.html

And what type of tools/equipment would I need to install these into the cart?

Please help. Thank you.

Interstate are decent batteries, but I would not put them in the same class at Trojan.
That said, I would not hesitate to run them assuming the cost is worthwhile.

Besides basic hand tools, You’ll need a battery strap and a strong back. Those 12v batteries are typically around 85lbs each.

So the price of these is $215 each at Costco. I will need 4 of them.

Any idea on the price of Trojan batteries? And would it be worth buying these instead at a higher price?

How would I compare?

I'm not sure where you are located, as prices vary widely depending on location. $215.00 each for the Costco batteries seems high. You can find Trojan batteries for that price or less around here.....IF you can find them in stock!

O'Reilly Auto Parts has the GC12 Super Start Fleet & Heavy Duty batteries for $191.99 each in my neck of the woods. These are comparable to the Interstate in quality and probably not a bad choice.

It all depends on how you use your cart. Daily short 5 mile runs, these will be fine. If like me you have nearly daily 15 to 20 mile runs, go with the Trojans even if they are more where you live.

Charge after each use no matter how short the drive. Keep on charger whenever you are not riding.

I sell crown CR150 about $200 a set less than those. Plus I carry the CR155 for about $150/set less than those which is a higher capacity battery. I'd check around, but make sure you compare Amp hours.

The golf won't be used that often and when it's used it would be used an hour or less.

My preference is a battery that lasts more than 5 years if possible as compared to longevity. Given this information, do you still think I should go with Trojan T1275?

Other than a golf cart dealer, is there a place local to Cleveland, Ohio that you would suggest to purchase?

Would these be cheaper at an Auto parts store?

Please help. Thanks.

I am going to buy the Crown batteries since they are located very close to my home.

I've never replaced golf batteries, what kind of tools do I need? They seem to fit very tight in the cart and wondering how I will get them out of there. Any suggestions?

You will need a battery strap like this:

Probably available at Crown dealer for more $.

A 1/2" Long shaft nutdriver like this:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Klein-To...-1-2/203310582

Works great for loosening and tightening the terminals. It makes overtightening less likely.

You will also need socket to remove the battery hold down brackets.

And a strong back, as they are 60# each. Two people can do it if one stands in the cart and one outside. They are a tight fit. Remove the easy ones first.

Take a photo of the cable and battery configuration so you can put the new ones in with the + and - terminals located correctly.

Thanks. This is quite helpful.

How do you secure the battery lifting straps prior to lifting? And do you need one or two of these straps per battery?
