One of 2 things ...... it is wired wrong or you are installing the wrong solenoid. Because the originals last about 25 years.

I have a 1984 club car and I compared the wiring and it is wired the same as the '85 and I'm using the same selenoids. Here's something else it's doing: sometimes when I stop and let off the accelerator pedal, the cart still wants to move slow like the thing is still in first gear. So I think maybe it's still engaged while the parking break is on not noticing this and it is burning it up cause it is still under load. Once it has burned it up, I step on the accelerator pedal and I hear four selenoids clicking in but the cart won't move so I replaced the first selenoid again and then the cart works. If I turn the key off after I use the cart each time, will it keep this from happening?

I appreciate your hints and tips a lot.
Thanks, Goat
