1994 electric ez-go golf stopped running.
I can hear the solenoid click. Any troubleshooting suggestions. The batteries are fine (37.6 vdc). I can feel a very small bump when the gas pedal is depressed. Thanks

Re: 1994 electric ez-go golf stopped running.
The battery pack's SoC is only 80%, so they do need to be charged, but should be high enough for troubleshooting.
Attach DVM between B- and M- terminals on controller. Press pedal just far enough for solenoid to click. You should read full battery pack voltage. If not, you have a problem in the high current loop. Here is a schematic with high current loop highlighted |

I would suspect the F&R or some other high amperage connection gone bad. Can you wiggle the F&R and get it to go? Any signs of heat on the studs? If youre uncertain post an in focus pic

Re: 1994 electric ez-go golf stopped running.
I put my dvm to check Voltage and it started to work. The solenoid click seems much louder, is it possible that the solenoid was partially open/closed? I have been trying to get 5his thing going all week and after I ask for help on the forum, it starts to run. What other possible problems could there be?

Where did you place the meter leads when it started to work? And does it continue to work with the meter leads removed?

I put the leads on the b- and m- terminals and it did continue to work after I removed the test leads. I just went outside to make sure that it would still work and it does.

Re: 1994 electric ez-go golf stopped running.
Perhaps you wiggled some wires/cables while getting cover off controller, or when attaching test leads.
Whatever was causing the problem is probably still there, and may reappear. Clean and tighten all control wires and high current cables. Checked for loose ends and missing insulation. |

Re: 1994 electric ez-go golf stopped running.
Johnnie what I read is that the solenoid clicked louder after the meter was applied... I would look hard at the small wire connections and fittings.
Maybe you can move something and replicate the problem? |

Re: 1994 electric ez-go golf stopped running.
It sounds like he was hearing at first just a microswitch and then hearing the solenoid. I had an intermittent problem for months and it was the plug that comes off of the ITS assembly. I cleaned and spread the plugs a little and the thing would still act up sometimes! I finally cut the plug out and put each set of wires together with waterproof " butt " connectors. No more problems! I would check your battery cables as was suggested too. Another area on mine that gave trouble was the small connectors on the solenoid that were slide on ones. I removed them ( never would stay tight ) and replaced them with the eyelet type. No more problems there either! I figure that if I ever have to replace a part connected with butt connectors, I'll just cut them off and replace them. It beats having intermittent issues with a bad plug assembly!
