Power Wise charger
I just bought a 2005 ezgo 36 volt cart. The guy was using it every day and said the charger worked. I just hooked it up and heard it click when I plugged it into the cart then it hums (sounds like others I've used) when I plugged it in the wall. But the meter says 0 never went up at all. Is there a way to tell if it is working correctly and the meter is dead or is the whole thing dead? Its a 28115 g04 model if that helps
Thanks Mike |

Re: Power Wise charger
Take a voltage reading of your battery pack when the charger is on. You should read 42 to 44 volts after the charger has been on for a few hours. I believe the cutoff point is 45 to 46 volts.

Re: Power Wise charger
Tap the ammeter, the needle might be stuck.
Here is a manual for your charger. |

Re: Power Wise charger
Looked for a hour to find one of my meters, my 16 year old can't remember where he put them. lol Luckily this morning the charger was off and the meter on the cart says it is fully charged. Now to fix the meter is it usually just the meter or is there something else to check?
Thanks Mike Thanks for the manual. |

Re: Power Wise charger
Assuming your onboard charge meter is correct, your charger did its job. It would be good to confirm with a handheld volt meter, but either the charger was satisfied with the voltage on the pack, or it timed out. The only thing that is wrong with the charger would be the ammeter, which you can replace, or just live without. It's good to have, but not necessary, assuming you can monitor the pack voltage.

Re: Power Wise charger
For that price it's well worth replacement. Cheap insurance, compared to the price of a battery pack.
