Default Are 1g cables overkill?

I got some free 1g welding cable, it's not brand new but it looks pretty good. I need to do a cable upgrade at some point for any possible upgrades, or should I just buy some 4g for $60.

Free cable is always good! However, you may have a hard time finding lugs with the correct sized hole. I'm not saying you can't, I just know that as the sizes increase, so do the capacities. You could end up with a lug that falls off the post because of hole diameter. Check it out before you commit.

If it's a stock cart then yes it's over kill. If you plan on doing anything in the future then it's a good start. They will make the radius a little harder to make also when using #1.
Here is the cables on my Mud Buggie.

Cool Re: Are 1g cables overkill?

Heavy Cables Are Better , I Made Lug From Copper Tubing And Drilled The Holes To Size Needed.
