Default More questions from my 295 motor rebuild

Ok 2 more questions and I should be all set to put this engine back together. When I took the engine apart I didn't pay attention. The rods say fan on one side, does it matter what way the rods face? My second question has to do with the timing of the crank to the balance shaft. How should this be setup? I love the place. Im sure these are easy questions for everyone but I appreciate the help.

On the rods the side marked FAN should face the fan side of the engine. The timing marks should line up like this illustration when you put the timing belt on.

What about the gear on the crank and the gear on the balance shaft?

Align the single dot on the crankshaft gear in between the 2 dots on the balancer shaft gear
