Default 01 Workhorse question

Just bought this thing from a auction.. Fairly decent shape for being a golf course maintance cart.. 815 hrs on it.. My question is the motor smokes pretty good while running it.. been reading through the posts here and really have'nt found an answer too why it does this.. So figured i'd just ask for help.. Thanks in advance.. Forgot.. Did an oil change the day I got it.. 30w 1.5 qts. No oil in the air box either..

there is a few reasone these engines smoke.

1: most common is it has been overfilled with oil and no it burning it. the mufflers have loads of passages that the oil gets hung up in and it will smoke until the oil has burned out. Hince the thread BBQ'd muffler

2: Engine is worn out. If it was maint cart, than it has been road hard and put up wet. So you need a rebuild.

3: try going to a thicker oil so its harder for it to pass by the rings. I run 15/40 diesel oil on our carts. pull the plugs and see what they look like, if they are oilly than you will look at a rebuild.
