Diagram of the gas pedal / throttle linkage assembly?
Hello Gang,
New owner of a 1989 club car DS. I picked it up on Saturday. After getting it home I had some time to really crawl around and look at what the previous owner had done to keep it on the road. That guy seems to really love zip ties. There are several places where he used them to 'hold stuff together'. While under the cart, I found that the gas pedal has 4 zip ties holding the throttle cable to the end of the gas pedal. There is a little half moon shaped bracket which appears to be missing the 'other half' (hence the zip ties.) Does anyone have a diagram / image of what that linkage should look like? I checked the 'sticky' up top, but there was nothing specific to the throttle linkage at the pedal side. Thanks much! Ted p.s. If there is interest, where should I post a thread about my new toy? Does it matter? |

Re: Diagram of the gas pedal / throttle linkage assembly?
I can take a pic of my cart's linkage if you want to see a good pic of what it should look like. Just tell me what angle you're looking for. Or post a pic here in this thread and I'll grab a pic of mine from the same angle.
And yeah post pics. We love pics. Post them up in the "Member's Rides" section. |

Re: Diagram of the gas pedal / throttle linkage assembly?
As far as 'what angle' do I need... umm.. from lying on your back looking up at the throttle linkage where it attaches to the gas pedal.
I will try to crawl under it tonight to snap some picks of the zip tie forest. The guy I bought the cart from did what I would call a 'quick flip' of it. It's a shame that I didn't catch the zip tie extravaganza before I paid him. Unfortunate really. Thanks! Ted |

Here is what I'm looking to 'fix':
I'm guessing that's not a factory 'race ready' option? Ted |

Wow that looks weird. I'll get you a shot of mine when I get home. It's hard to tell what's broken from your pics with all those zip ties in the way.

Re: Diagram of the gas pedal / throttle linkage assembly?
Wow! So I think I figured it out.
Based on this: * *image courtesy of GolfGartsPartsDirect.com - go see 'em for some parts. :) I think what happened was that the ball end must have snapped off, so the PO (Previous Owner) must have rigged up something from some spare parts. 'lil hat tip to the guy for coming up with that one! I'll be ordering parts 11 and 12 - What do you think? Ted |

Yes looks like you need 11 and 12,, the only problem i see is trying to get the old # 11 out of the pedal

^^^
Ha! I was thinking the same thing. Maybe heat the pedal assembly up and then shoot some liquid wrench in there from the back side? I ordered the parts. They wanted $14.00 for delivery! So while I was in there, I ordered a few other items just so the shipping would make sense. Nice to be able to figure out the 'what' part so easily. Next up... the 'how'. Is there a preferred length for that rod? Should there be any 'end play' in the pedal when I get it all reassembled? Thanks again, - T |

Re: Diagram of the gas pedal / throttle linkage assembly?
Suspicions confirmed. Thanks!
Your photos also answer my follow question about how #10 should be positioned. Mine looks like it angles 'up' a bit more than yours. I ordered a new one, as mine (same as yours) seems to have enlarged the spring retention hole a bit more than I'm comfortable with. Still can't get over the 14.00 shipping and handling for what would amount to a bag of screws. I had to add new rubber pedal covers to the order, just to make it worth my while. :) Thanks again, men.
