1996 Ezgo
I have a 1996 EZGO Electric 36 VOLT cart, just bought it. I am new to the site but thanks for making such a great educational place.
I believe this is a txt and it has the Forward Reverse lever below the seat. What can you guys tell me about this one and what are some of the cheaper options I have of beefing this thing up? My neighbors is gas and he is giving me a hard time? Any help would be great. I dont know much about these but I am electrical and mechanical inclined. Prior to buying this my hobby was lawn and garden tractors but after reading a lot of threads over here, I believe carts could be even more fun. |

The first step in "beefing up" any TXT Series car is to replace all of the stock cables with 4 gauge. After that you are talking motor and or controllers and neither are inexpensive.

Re: 1996 Ezgo
Thanks, I was kind of looking for gas because of all the spare parts and info I have from Garden tractors. But the electric seams pretty simple. I have a degree in Industrial Electrical technology and I very seldom use it sitting behind a desk so I thought maybe I could re-learn and use some of it.

Re: 1996 Ezgo
An upgrade to 48 volts will give you both speed and torque. However, it doesn't come cheap. 8 new batteries are not cheap. There will be someone along in a while that has gone the 48 volt route and they will tell you what you need and estimated cost. (It will also leave your stock gas buddy eating your dust!)
