I should have said "exhaust and carburetor are 88 specific." The choke setup on the BV24 carb (pulls from the front instead of from a bracket bolted between carb and intake like on the BV18 ) and the 90° inlet on the muffler top are dead giveaways for the HO 1988 setup.

??? i did see an oil tank next to the f/r switch (inside) ???
carb looks new ... looks like factory gas gauge

Yep, muffler is the best "quick glance" way to tell.

And I could help you "scrap" it, Don. I'm closer to him.

Worth fixing is determined by the user, but that said I sure would. 88 was a good year for Marathons and the 2pg engine that year had a 24 mm carburetor (vs. 18 on the others) and a high performance exhaust. They're peppy little carts.

I have worked on 'em and I'm a sparky guy too. Even if it needs a rebuild, that's fairly simple on these and every bit of it we can walk you through.

Here's a little info on the 88 model year specifically:

Lots of good info in there because I covered just about everything in my search to find why that cart ran poorly.
