95 EZGO Worked fine, now nothing at all
My 95 EZGO Textron Medalist one day ran perfectly fine, the next day it is getting no spark at all when you push the gas pedal. Battery tested fine, when I jumped the solenoid the starter kicked on and I replaced the solenoid, still nothing. I bypassed the ignition switch, nothing. I saw some forums suggesting the accelerator micro switch could be bad so I removed it. I have not tried bypassing the micro switch yet, but the forum suggested if the switch was bad it would not click. It's clicking fine so I doubt there's anything wrong it. So my next step is to bypass the micro switch and see if that works, but I'm not holding my breath. From the looks of it there are only two other electrical components pre-starter, the ignitor and another small square piece directly below it with a bolt in the center. The ignitor is really expensive and I don't want to spend the money if I'm not sure it's the problem. Any suggestions? Can the ignitor be tested?

Re: 95 EZGO Worked fine, now nothing at all
Lets back up just a little so we are clear on what you've got. You say "it is getting no spark at all when you push the gas pedal" then go on to "jumped the solenoid the starter kicked on". Is it cranking the starter but not getting spark to the spark plug, or is it not cranking the starter but doesn't run and drive? We can offer more help if we understand what the problem is.

Re: 95 EZGO Worked fine, now nothing at all
Thanks for your reply meimk. So, maybe I used the wrong terminology. When I press the gas, absolutely nothing happens ... the starter doesn't kick on at all. At this point I don't have any reason to suspect there is any problem between the starter and plug; the problem is "telling" the starter to crank when you press the gas pedal. When I connect the two bolts on the top of the solenoid with a screwdriver, the starter fires up.

Can you hear the click from the micro switch that is connected to the gas pedal?

Fuse, key switch, pedal switch, neutral safety switch.
Put your meter on the negative post of the battery, and the small solenoid terminal that connects to the switches. Press the pedal, and look for voltage. Work your way back until you find it. Guessing off hand, I would say fuse. |
