99 Workhorse Charging Problem
I have a workhorse that isn't charging. I did a search and have a pretty good idea of how to test the voltage. What is the voltage supposed to be at the generator? I couldn't find that info. If I take the green wire off and test right there on the little stud it is only reading about 11.5 shouldn't that be more? Thanks

Re: 99 Workhorse Charging Problem
hook it back up and test the voltage at the battery when the motor revs

Re: 99 Workhorse Charging Problem
YEP what he said. the starter/gen has to have voltage to make voltage. If you have battt voltage at battery when cart is running, than you need a voltage regulator, located beside the solenoid.

Wait - I already said that - BTW - voltage regulators do not go bad very often, but even more rarely do starters continue to work and not produce voltage. I've seen many carts where the green wire from the regulator has come unplugged, too |

Re: 99 Workhorse Charging Problem
Thanks for the help. Green wire is plugged in. Is there a chance that my generator is not producing enough voltage? I checked the voltage coming out of the generator, it is 11.8 volts at the stud where green wire goes. I check it at new battery it is @ 12.5 not running and lowers to 12 volts running wide open. After that I grounded green wire per VR test i found on this site. I had no change in voltage. I am getting confused darn it! The voltage regulator lowers voltage coming out of the generator and does not increase it? Is that correct? I would much rather buy a regulator than a generator. Thanks again
