How many volts is this wired pack?
This isn't a test.....but I can't "see" what the end voltage is in this pack of Leaf modules.
Can someone tell me the voltage and what the math is to get there? |

Re: How many volts is this wired pack?
First off!!! I dont know much about these. I believe each cell is around 3.6 volts or charged full at 4. so 10 cells at 3.6 is 36. This could very well be way off lol but i think im close.

Re: How many volts is this wired pack?
If I remember right (been a while since I messed with lithium stuff) that would be a 5S2P pack which should yield 19V nominal.
Lithium cells are typically 3.8V per cell. You have 2 parallel cells connected in a group of 5 series “sets”. This effectively doubles the AH output of each parallel set, yet retains the single cell voltage of 3.8V. Multiply by 5 (number of sets in connected in series). You could cite the full charge cell voltage at 4.19V per cell and say you have a 20.95V pack, but cited cell voltage is usually the nominal voltage. Unless I’m just totally wrong and they have something different going on in the Leaf modules. (Wouldn’t be the first time :) |

Re: How many volts is this wired pack?
It's being sold as a 48-V pack. Or.....maybe "for" a 48-V system.

Re: How many volts is this wired pack?
I think each of those are 2 cells, and "2 cell batteries" configured in 5s2p would be about 36v.

Re: How many volts is this wired pack?
37V nominal, 42V max. It is a 10S4P pack. Each Leaf module of that era is internally 2S2P, ie 2 cells paralleled X 2 in series . It would be good as a 36V pack, but not a 48V pack.
The newer Leaf modules are internally 4S2P each, 14.4V nominal, 16.8V max per module. |

Re: How many volts is this wired pack?
That pack is 10S or 10 * 4.2V = 42V max. It's closer to a 36volt pack than a 48. I am running 14 of those modules configured the way those are with two in parallel. That gives me 14S or 14 * 4.2V = 58.8V max. Each Leaf module contains the equivalent of 2 cells in series to it's 8.4V max.

Re: How many volts is this wired pack?
Yes, that is a 42v pack when fully charged. I have one of those installed in a stock 36V PDS TXT and it runs perfectly with no changes to the cart, just a pack addition with DC-DC converter and on board charger. It is now 3 yrs old. It is as stated above, a 5S2P cpnfiguration.

Re: How many volts is this wired pack?
Ok.....in "studying" the pic further.....I've added what I believe to be the positive and negative location of each modules terminals. As such, if assembled in this manner wouldn't the total pack voltage, if the nominal voltage is 14.4-V per module, be 57.6?
