Default EZGO TXT 1999- new controller-will barely move

We have put in a new controller. When we tried to turn the golf cart on and ride it would barely move. It sounded as if the motor was making a humming noise. We have checked power to all pins and have the correct voltage except for pin 5. It said we should have pack voltage and it was only 4.7. We checked the pedal switch and everything seemed to be in its correct place and no wire corrosion. Any ideas?

When we put in forward and pressed foot pedal, we were only getting 27 volts. Do we need to charge before testing?

That’s a big problem. Charged should be around 38.2.

That was before charge. Sorry. It is now 38.5.

We drove a little down the road and tested while is was moving and it went down to 17.5 volts. There is two brand new batteries with the other four being older batteries. Could the older batteries be an issue?

Yes. You can clip your leads to each individual battery while going and find out which one, or ones, are bad.

Definitely a battery problem. 17v pack voltage means your batteries are terrible. How new are the newer ones? If they’re relatively recent replace just the old 4. Otherwise a new pack is always the strongest.

We tested each individual battery and one immediately went down to 4 volts as the others stayed at or around 6. The two batteries are brand new. Like a month old. The others are a couple years.
