Add 12 volt battery, bagwell or put a small 12 volter under the seat somewhere.

sure, charge with a standard 12v charger. Use a deep cycle marine battery and don't charge it every night.
Before you discount the reducer, add the cost of a battery, charger, wires together and then price a reducer.

Go the expense of a reducer. I suggest a multiconnection model for use in future 12 volt needs. (light kit, lighter/cell chg port,12 volt TV,12V blender for lemon drops, etc. Just the essentials!!

Since you have 6 eight volt batteries I would get a voltage reducer, (48 to 12,) for your cart especially if you plan to ever add any other 12 volt accessories. Once installed you'll charge your cart the way you normally would.
