Lightbulb 48V or 12V battery meter/indicator (too simple?)

There are USB ports that have a built in voltage reader. It appears they all read 12V. Could someone hook a 12V battery indicator to the reducer and track charge this way? Essentially when the 12V battery indicator was at 6V then the overall battery system would proportionally be at 50% as well (your overall 48V would be at 24V)... Or does one have to use 48V and go directly to batteries?

The 12V output of a voltage reducer stays at 12V over a very broad range of input voltages.
The one I have puts out 12v with and input ranging anywhere for 24V to 56V.

If you want to know the battery pack voltage, measure the battery pack voltage.

I use something similar to this: https://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-meters.html
It has been connected directly to the battery pack and has been on 24/7 going to ten years without losing accuracy or readability.

Also, a 12v battery at 6v is WAY below 50% charged.

Years ago when I ran an extra 12v for lights etc. I used to set up a 3 position toggle switch between my meter and the pack and the 12v battery. This way I could switch the meter reading between the 12 and 36 volt pack readings.
