Re: 92 marathon wont go - controller?
Verify the throttle signal is correct = telling the controller to let amperage pass. Pull small wires off controller pin 2&3 plug the meter into them and set range of 20,000 Ω. should red close to 0-5k through the pedal stroke.

Re: 92 marathon wont go - controller?
Had tested the throttle previously and it went from zero ohms to 6500 ohms with pedal fully depressed - gradual climb with depression of pedal. Is that okay?

Re: 92 marathon wont go - controller?
Scottyb, assuming the above results indicate the throttle is okay, is there anything else to check or is it safe to say the controller is shot? If so, what controller would you recommend replacing it with? It currently has the stock Curtis 1204-027. I'd like to consider upgrading to a 400a 36-48v to allow for future upgrades. Gotta stay in budget though... Thanks again for the guidance!

Re: 92 marathon wont go - controller?
Did you ever check the FnR sw? Scotty mentioned it but that was the end of it.

Re: 92 marathon wont go - controller?
If all previous tests pass & the control fails the B- to M- output test than it has failed. If it passes the test then F&R and motor are left to test.

Re: 92 marathon wont go - controller?
Controller failed the output test BUT how would I test the FNR switch just for giggles?

Re: 92 marathon wont go - controller?
So, I have continuity between all four posts on the FnR no matter if its in f or r.... not sure what that means. I also noticed a white wire coming from the micro switch that also has the red wire going to the reverse buzzer on it. This white wire, probably 12ga, was cut and not connected to anything. What does that go too and is it vital?
Scottyb please post the link mentioned anove - many thanks! |

I've never done it, but I would assume you need to remove the cables to do the FNR continuity test.
