Default This is under my floor, what is it? ITS?

I am trying to troubleshoot a star cart. I read here, that the parts are ezgo??

So I was trying to see if this thing has a ITS or some other thing. I cut open the floor board to expose this box. What is it?

Where can I find out what it is , so I can buy one??

Any help???

0-5k ohm throttle box, it appears. The round silver thing affected by the gear is a potentiometer. May be able to just buy the potentiometer and not the whole box (but would require some investigation to correctly identify potentiometer model & type). On a "star" by chance? Oops "star" is in original post... Are you sure its bad, if you are unsure what it is?

Not 100 % sure it is bad. The cart stopped. I replaced the solenoid with a new one ) Albright).

When I hook up my handheld, it says "throttle fault", The pedal reads 100 %. I noticed this guy has one broken return spring on the left side of the go pedal. When I play around with the pedal, I did the cart to move. So possibly this one broken spring on the pedal, might be the entire problem.

Here is a picture of the broken spring. I don't know where to get one, have not seen one quite like this??

Anyone know where I can get one?

I can't help you with finding a pedal return spring, but I might be able to explain why the cart is misbehaving.

You might be running into something called High Pedal Disable (HPD).
Basically, if the pedal doesn't return to the fully up position between stops, the controller is disabled. This is done to prevent the controller from having more than a Zero throttle input when the solenoid contacts close.

If the cart won't start, try lifting up on the pedal with your toe.

Try using a big rubber band behind the throttle cable and attach it to the steering column. If this solves your problem, you know it's the spring.

Johnnie B Thanks for the info. Maybe that is what is happening.

I have no idea where to buy parts for a star cart. I thought I read they were knock offs on an ezgo frame, but I don't see any ezgo pedal springs like this??

We supposedly have a star "dealer" here in the desert, but he doesn't carry parts, and doesn't want to order any???? Amazing, why is he a "dealer"??

Yurtle, I am not quite following you on the rubber band idea. Are you saying tie one end of the rubber band to the steering wheel, and the other end around the pedal??

"behind the throttle cable" is what I don't understand??? Sorry.

You can use your foot to pull back on the throttle pedal, if that works, but in the interest of troubleshooting, that will get old fast. I have a box of red rubber bands that are around 6" long. I would try wrapping one or two around the gas pedal and tie it (them) around the steering column - not wheel - to act like the spring does, to return the pedal to full up for a day or two, to be sure that's your problem. You could also try a bungie cord. Just trying to ensure you don't change a spring, only to find out that isn't your problem.
