i found the answer !!!
i was doing a 2005 ds today and it was stuck
i took off the 2 bolts that hold the spacer on the top of the brake assembly
couple wacks with hammer and it came off



btw i looked under the rubber cover on the back and it does have the nut

That would have saved me about 6 hours for 2 drums, and 2 Sam Adams.

where are these 2 bolts? They must be on the back side, if you can get to them with the drum still on?

Any reason to mess with these 2 bolts, other than a stuck drum?

Whats really throwing me, is when the OP said said something about a bolt or screw being at an angle?? Can you clarify this angled bolt?

you get at them from the back side
they are above the axle
example ... not the club car brakes

not uness you are gonna change the spacer

attached is a photo of a older club car but it shows the bolts and spacer

note: the new style has bolts not nuts
