Default Bent valves ?????

I just replaced my timing belt on my 2005 txt 295 engine. Now when and if it starts, it seems as if the carb is flooding the motor. (no problems at all before belt broke)
Is it possible to bend the valves, while turning the cam over to line up the timing marks ?????

Steps taken;
aligned top and bottom timing marks, turned engine over by hand three times to check marks again. All looked fine. Tried to start the engine. Nothing.

Pulled clutch off again and checked marks. all were fine. Put it back together, tried to start nothing.

Pulled the fuel line off at carb, turned motor over, plenty of fuel.

Pulled carb off, took it apart, cleaned it (some what) and blew out all areas and checked float assembly, seemed to be working ok.

Put it all back together, turned the motor over with one shot of starting fluid, nothing.

Pulled the plugs out, both were firing, but wet.

Put plugs back in held the gas pedal to the floor and after about 100 revolutions it started, but if you let off the pedal, it would start to shut off until I gave it more pedal. Just like motor was flooding.

I am at a loss. engine run like a top. Belt broke at low speed. Replaced the belt. Now it seems as if the carb has gone bad, or I have BENT A VALVE ????? HELP !!!!!

I don't see how you could bend a valve by turning the cam, maybe if you cranked down the rocker arms first.

Sure the marks were aligned right, both straight up?

When I first installed the belt, I was off 1 tooth and then when resetting it I went the wrong way and had if off by 2. Each time I turned the motor over by hand at least 2 revolutions Finally got it right. After that I checked the marks 4 different times, always straight up.
I'm just wondering if I could have bent a valve when turning it over by hand.
and that is why it is acting like it is flooding out. I'm lost??????

OK just finished checking the valves, all of them were right on (.04) turned the motor over a couple times, still good.
The engine starts after about 100 revolutions, and runs great at about 200rpm up, but when you bring it back down to about an idle, and then give it more throttle, it takes a while to catch up. Just like it's flooded.

Boy Phillip I wish had an idea for you, funny it ran good before the timing belt. I would have guessed it was
out of time but sounded like you had that covered with the install. Hope someone here can help.

I never changed a timing belt but wondering if the deflection would change the timing a tad, looks like the
idler pulley bolt is off set for adjustment. Did you take that into consideration?
