Default Yamaha j38

I have tried to put in a new valve guides, I froze them in nitrogen and pressed them in one went in the other broke I got a new one and it broke as well. Can anyone help.

My dad once rebuilt a VW motor in the bathtub, my mom was mad, I'm still not sure why.....

I just put in a new piston and rings lapped valves put it all together. I have no compression. I have not set valve gap. can this be why. please help thanks.
