Default G2 Low oil light removal

I’m in the process of painting my G2, have all body panel off but can’t figure out how to remove the low oil warning light from the front cowl. The front side has the lens and the rear side has a hex shaped metal housing about 1 1/4” long(like a wide nut). I was able to remove the rubber grommet that holds the bulb holder and the wires come out if it. The housing & lens spin but don’t seem to unthread from one another. I’d like to save it to reuse it. Does anyone know how to remove it?
