Re: Charging problem on 48 V. CC
You replace the weak battery with a new one. A now what? The charger won’t charge the pack. Tell us in detail what is going on now.

Re: Charging problem on 48 V. CC
I replaced the battery, with a used, good battery last night and charged the pack overnight. When I got up this morning the charger was still running and was at about 4 volts. This is the same place it charges down to basically no matter if I charge it 10 hours or 15 hours. I was told the computer may need reset.

Re: Charging problem on 48 V. CC
Did you go back & do a voltage check. Did the same battery fall back down?

Re: Charging problem on 48 V. CC
On our 48v CC's when the charger sets on 4amps and just cooks, its the OBC that has gone bad. I have had bad batteries and the charger would set on 1 or 2amps forever. But 9 out of 10 times...if it sets on 4amps its the On Board Computer.
Also, when you first plug the charger in, it should take a few seconds to kick the relay on, The amp guage will jump up to 10,12-15amps whatever and then the amp guage will drop to zero and then back to whatever 10,12,15amps.....I always referred to it as "Reading the Pack" If the charger comes on the instant it is plugged into the cart......bad OBC If the charger doesn't Read the Pack.....bad OBC If charger sets on 4 amps and just cooks....Bad OBC Just an idea..... |

Re: Charging problem on 48 V. CC
Check with the site sponsors first, they should have one or be able to tell you where to get one. Price wise....they start at about $320 retail.
If you are going to change out the OBC, it would probably be worth the effort to find someone with a discharge unit to pull the pack down and get a discharge time in minutes. The discharge unit simulates driving and will give you a real number to judge your batteries by. Also, after discharge unit shuts down, I will immediatly start it back up and take a volt meter and check voltage on each battery while the unit is still running. A good new of batteries will run for 75-80min. On an older set, anything close to an hour is good. |

Re: Charging problem on 48 V. CC
Any good golfcart shop should have a discharge unit. They shouldn't charge you a fortune either. Probably an hour labor is all. Good luck with your repair and keep us posted.

Tried to reset the computer last night and didnt think I was successful but when I checked it this morning the charger had turned off like it was supposed to so maybe something I did may have worked.
