Re: Solid state conversion & 48v Upgrade Project
Have it all torn down...
Going to TSC to get the aluminum to repair the battery rails and to contruct the mounts for the new controller, on-board charger and voltage reducer. I'm also going to scrub and clean the frame since I have it all torn apart. More pics to come... |

Re: Solid state conversion & 48v Upgrade Project
Finally have the frame all clean and started to mount the components. I mounted both the controller and reducer up high and then the on board charger just behind the batteries. Next up is mounting and connecting the POT. Then the wiring begins....
More to follow.... |

Re: Solid state conversion & 48v Upgrade Project
Looks great so far, the only thing i see is tying the top of the charger mount into something. It doesnt take too much to crack aluminum when its bent like that.

Excellent! This is exactly what I want to do to my '85 DS, someday.
Now, tell me a bit about the C-2. |

Re: Solid state conversion & 48v Upgrade Project
I would only because the controller is poured in epoxy and it is more water resistant than the charger which has open fan intakes and exhausts. Just a thought .... and while I am thinking out-loud I would like to see the DC to DC reducer swapped around so the connections are facing forward in case you need to access them from under the seat? Or are you planning on leaving the access accessible?
So often the access panel gets covered with a rear seat or cargo box...... That is one clean frame ~ Everything on it looks clean. |
