It would be nice if you could show us here where exactly that pin is located.
I have three in my shop right now and I have looked since you posted. I don't see a detent for neutral on any of the ones I have.

I never looked there. For some reason I thought all had the detents on rear axle until you mentioned it. Then again I might be losing it Thanks.

Thanks guys for the info on the neutral detent. But no joy on the locking pin. In fact, I saw that description on one of the shop manuals but ours has no such thing. However, even if it did have one there I really am not looking to lock nuetral for servicing but only for a minute while warming up the engine a bit on cold (by Arizona standards) mornings. So, as suggested I found that your idea of just centering the shift lever it works fine! Thank you.
