Default EZGO TXT 36V State of Charge Meter

So I wired the state of charge meter to a toggle so the red LED wouldn't stay lit, but the LED resets to full charge everytime I toggle it off. Is there any way to wire the state of charge meter so it picks up where it left off? Or is the power draw from the constantly lit LED so small I shouldn't worry about it? Should I just reset it after each charge and let it ride? I've looked through past posts, but haven't found the answer. Appreciate your thoughts/suggestions!

well true, its draw is so slight it wouldn't hurt a thing, but why didn't you hook it up to your ignition (on/off) switch? its how I hooked up mine, per the instructions from scottyb, and it works like a champ. when I turn off my cart, so does the SOC meter, and when I turn on my cart, its where it was when I turned it off.

EDIT: I just saw where you posted in another thread, and your meter is a vertical light bar meter......not an actual DVM SoC meter......which is what I have. Sorry for the confusion.

Good question...wish I had a good answer. I did wire it to the ignition, but apparently not to the right wire. I'll go over it again tonight. You wouldn't happen to have a link or copy of Scotty's instructions would you?

as I just edited my post above......you have a bar type soc, not a DVM SoC, which is what he has/sells.

How many wires does you LED bargraph SoC meter have?

If it is just two, and it resets when turned off, you'll have to wire it directly to the battery.

If it has three wires, you may have the wrong wire wired to the keyswitch.

It has 3. #1 is supposed to go to +, #2 goes to -, and #4 to the key switch. But the diagram that came with the SOC meter is a little confusing on where exactly to connect to the key switch.

if you look closely at the back of the switch, you should see where beside each post, it is labeled......what is each post labeled as?

I didn't see any labels. But, I checked each wire in both on and off positions with a volt meter and the red one in the middle of the pic reads no volts in the off position.

I had it connected to the wrong wire on the ignition switch. Corrected that and now it turns on/off with the key and it returns to the last reading when I turn the key on. I'll put a fresh charge on it, reset the SOC meter and hopefully be good to go.

Appreciate the help...I'm sure I'll be in touch when I decide to upgrade the controller and try to get more torque/speed out of it. Thanks again!
