Installing an electric bed lift - Carryall II
I am going to install a linear actuator lift for the bed on my '97 Carryall II but it's not at all obvious to me where and how to mount the lift.
I'd love to see some pictures of how others have done this install along with any mounting suggestions. Thanks. Bill |

Re: Installing an electric bed lift - Carryall II
Hey Bill, I did this on my carryall and love it other than it's a little slow. Cart is at lakehouse so I can't take pics. I will tell you I am on my second actuator due to the first one being to light (rated at 180 lbs.), the second is rated at 700 lbs. and works much better. I purchased both off ebay. I went to auto parts store to by the momentary three way switch and mounted it next to the gear shifter. For the top bracket I made a double 1" angle bracket the length of the bed for full support, with an offset in the middle for actuator. The bottom was just a short peice like the top one but mounted off the frame crossmember. There is a thead on here somewhere, maybe in design center. If you do much moving of material as I was you will love it. We have probably moved 15 tons of dirt and gravel with ours.

Bump. Doesn't someone here have a photo of a bed lift, factory or homemade?

Re: Installing an electric bed lift - Carryall II
Thanks GAC for going to the trouble to take and post the pictures. Really appreciate it. They help a lot.
I was thinking that the bottom of the lift ram would be mounted in front of the engine and I just wasn't seeing how that would work. Back to the drawing board. Bill |
