91 ezgo steering play
This cart I just got has free play in steering. Tie rods are new lat 2 yrs and hardly used. Play is in steering box. I am guessing there is no adjustment like on auto steering sector. Bellows is torn up, do not see or feel any grit in grease remaining.
Am I looking at new rack/rod assemble alone or might I also have to get steering reduction gear. By the way, batteries are doing very well considering the way they had been treated. Ard |

Re: 91 ezgo steering play
Go to the stickies and try and find a manual for your cart. I don't know about '91, but my '98 had a lot of slop, and I replaced the rack, pinion, and a big bushing (forget the name). That helped a lot. I also replaced my torn boot, to keep crud out. I tore mine apart and thoroughly cleaned the old contaminated grease. It was only at really high speeds that it continued to be problematic, so I replaced the housing, which had several bushings that aren't really replaceable. Most buggy steering on a golf course involves minor direction correction, so mine was really worn in the middle. A rack alone might have done the job, but the pinion gear wasn't too expensive, and I think EZ-GO recommended replacing both.
