Default 2004 Precedent stops randomly

Hi all, I have a 2004 Precedent Champions Edition ( first registered 11/2004) that just started having random start stop issues. I use it around the neighborhood only. I can get in it in the afternoon and run down to the mailbox 1/4 mile away and it runs fine. Get mail, jump back in and won't go. I have tried the suggestion from this forum of putting in tow mode and pumping the acellerator 20 times, then back to run mode and this works......it will run again temporarily and then won't run next time I go to drive it.....very erratic with no pattern that I can detect.
I have only owned cart for about 8 months, it was meticulously maintained by previous owner and it has run fine since I bought it.
It has a GE Motor in it and is 48v but with the 4-12v batteries. Batteries are nearly new and well maintained and show good voltage (I can be more specific on resting voltage if necessary).
My thanks to Crash Test Dummy for an early response of possible MCOR failure when I posted a little info on my new member post. Just wanted to throw this out as a real question in a post with more detail to see if anyone had opinions or could help. Also, In researching, I see that 2004 might be a crossover year in terms of parts......might need direction on that. I have reviewed a lot of threads before posting and see a few similar postings but am wanting to reconfirm my thoughts and findings prior to buying and parts. Story if this is long but rules of posting say be detailed.....so I tried😂😂. Thanks in advance!!!

Your best bet is to contact David Hicks at http://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/ with your carts serial number to which he will set you up with the CORRECT parts for your cart not some cheaply made in China parts...

So I forgot to add a couple things I have done to cart. I installed a high speed magnet a couple of months ago which did not help speed up cart......it was doing 16mph prior to install. It did, however, disable the regen braking. I then took it to CC Dealer and had them install speed code 4. Cart now does 19-20mph. Just wanted to add this in case the speed magnet could be possible cause of my issue. Thanks again

Just one cent worth to put in here. You likely have a bad MCOR, but you said you put cart in tow before pressing the pedal. I had a friend at my golf course last year kind of the same thing. His would not go after it sat a few days, he put it in tow and back to run and it would do fine. I switched the tow run switch about 20-30 times and it has worked fine every since. Just something else to try.

I am not sure how that is possible, those functions are both related to the speed magnet, and if you prior speed was 16mph, it was not an issue with an existing restrictive speed code.

Anyway, the issue does does sound like the switch inside the MCOR. Those double-butterfly switches can brake in one side and create a condition where it will cycle between working fine and not at all.

You can disconnect the 2-pin connector from the MCOR and use a large paper-clip or stiff wire to jump the 2 pins on the harness connector.

If the cart works fine every time after that, call David and get a new OEM MCOR.

Thank you Sergio and Mr Golf for the quick response. Sounds like highly probable that it is a bad MCOR so I will contact member recommended above to see about ordering one and go from there. Sergio, as far as the speed magnet not speeding cart up but disabling the regen, I don't know much about carts as they are very new to me. I just know that is what happened?? Might have been a fluke or coincidence that regen got disable at same time I put magnet in.....might not have been related at all......timing was just concurrent with when I put speed magnet in.

I will also try toggelling the run/tow switch 30 times or so to see if that has any long term healing effect......thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks again for all your help.......

It's definitely got the symptoms of a bad MCOR2. The MCOR2 will be the correct replacement part for your cart. FYI, the Chinese aftermarket JUNK MCOR2 can not be found anywhere on our site.

Sorry this is really old reply. Installed new MCOR2 and cart has been running great since installed right after my last post (mid 2017?). Sorry I have no pics to post. I think I took some at the time but couldn’t find them to upload. Thanks again everyone for all your help!!!! Now I know first thing to check if cart starts hesitating again.
