Good point, I asked that question at our local golf course maint. shop and was told, nah won't affect a thing

Correct, when I unhooked the heat sink, not the reducer 16/12v.
Both lights would be of equal brightness, low or dim intensity.

PS, that heat sink gets hot and is bolted to the frame to dissipate heat?

No, all electrical hook ups, return to the negative post of battery #6, the same post that the OBC is wired to

Heat sink? I thought that is what you were calling the factory reducer. Isolated from the frame.

OK. I can assure you it will. Sorry. Have to disagree with your man.

Nothing should be getting hot like that.

Until you get a 12v source from your pack positive and negative {or B- on your controller). You will have problems in the long run.

As far as what is causing the present problem, it sounds as though there are things wired incorrectly, or problems with the components.

Hope this helps.

I agree, but I'm not sure why it has the extra heat sink in the factory wiring harness.
In the morning, I will take a reading at each of the leads to that heat sink, and also see what happens when I disconnect Both, leads from that heat sink. Just had a thought that the cart may have had the small heat sink just for the lights and when I put the new batteries in, I may have installed the head light power line to the voltage reducer.

Post some pictures of this "heatsink" and the connection at the batteries of your factory reducer. Along with any other termination points. Something seems a little off so in this case "A picture is worth a 1000 words!"

Would the "heat sink" happen to look something like #5 in the pictures?
If so... it's an isolated ground terminal block! (and no... it shouldn't get hot!)

Thanks
I installed lamps in my signal markers, if I remember correctly, the closest I could find were older GM side marker sockets at Auto Zone,
but, there was a little bit of modifying (filing the socket tangs) to get them to fit in the housing.
