Default Curtis/Albright SW180B Solenoid question

I'm upgrading my stock solenoid on a 2002 ds 48v series cart with a Curtis/Albright SW180B-1125. The resistor and diode came with the new solenoid but the diode has ring terminals but the solenoid does not have but two large posts on top and 4 spade terminals on the side. I am assuming that the resistor goes on the large posts and I will need to either send the diode back and get one with spade connectors on it or can I just solder it to the spade terminals. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Yes you can solder the diode on the spade terminals. Pay attention to the + and - marks on the solenoid when placing the diode.

Are the spade terminals lined up with the posts for polarity? There are no markings over them.

Some have the + and - molded in the plastic next to terminals if it has the double spade terminal you can crimp the female spade connector on diode also

Our SW180 have magnetic breakout. If your's does it should be clearly marked + and - on the spade terminals. Shown highlighted on this example (DC182)

Mine looks almost identical to that. So is it safe to assume that the upper spade terminals are + and the lower ones are -? Mine does not have any +/- markings on it. Also is the end of the diode that has the silver ring the positive end?

If it is not marked, then it is usually not polarized. Since that appears to be your case, just be sure that whichever you choose (sounds like it will be the top) to be the positive activation side (where the white/black wire and the red wire connect), then be sure the banded/striped end of the diode is connected to the same spade level so the diode functions correctly.

Scotty, i just bought the Curtis Albright SW80-1970 for my 36v ezgo pds cart. On the White Rodgers the wires are connected to the 2 terminals. On the new one there are 4 terminals for the small wires. Does every spade get a wire? Are the posiitve terminals connected, are the negative connected? Sorry to piggy back but this is about the same issue I will run in to. I have a blue & black wire on one terminal & 2 yellows on the other. Thanks,
