Default Charger 36 Volt Club Car DS 1994

How do you know how long to leave this type charger on ? It does not turn off like my other carts. The previous owner used this charger for several years ? I know I should use the original chargers, but this is what he had.

I think that is a maintenance/trickle type charger and won't shut off. You need a regular golf cart charger.

That is only a 5 amp charger. It is actually made by Yewy. I think they will shut off eventually, but it takes a while at only 5 amps, and it never will fully charge the batteries because it will never do a bulk charge.

I went through two of those types of chargers when they were cheaper and if you ran your cart down on Friday night it would take the rest of the weekend to get it charged back up. We used it at Fort Wilderness with the family and by the second day we had to keep it plugged in everywhere we stopped to keep the cart usable. The biggest problem I had is the internal fans kept dying on them and eventually frying the charger. Finally spent the money on a 20 or 25 amp charger last year and an very satisfied.
