Does the solenoid still click like it's supposed to once the car quits running? If it cools off and it starts running again, it gives a pretty good indication that your controller has failed. This is a pretty common issue with series cars. Often, the controller will age and give you these symptoms. They heat up and lose output. Once they cool off, they'll work for a while until they heat up again. Another possible scenario is that you have an issue in your motor that's causing the wiring to heat up. However, if this was the case it shouldn't cause intermittent operation. It would run until the motor insulator burnt up and it wouldn't run again. I would definitely inspect the motor and all wiring to make sure there are no issues there. If there's no issues found, I'd replace the controller with an Alltrax SR 300 amp controller.

More than likely that white wire is over 27 years old. I would swap out these wires than try again. New Wires are the best investment you can make for any cart. We always replace with No4 for the entire cart. Dont pay for them overpriced wires from the major golf cart supply companies, CartsUnlimited or Revolution Golf Carts is a great place to look

Yes,solenoid still clicks, tightened stud on motor, where white wire attached, still no change, runs for short distance then slows to a dead stop.
