carb leaks gas
I have a 1979 g1. I'm leaking gas from the carburetor. I took it off and seen it was leaking out of the plug. It a brass tube. There's a hole in it and gas is coming out of that. Is that normal to have hole in it ? Or can I take it out and put a new one in ? Where would I get something like that ? Sorry I'm new on here. Thanks, dave

Re: carb leaks gas
buy a can of carb cleaner
remove the carb and then remove the float bowl remove the float and clean out the needle/float-valve hole it rides in as it is stuck or has dirt so it is not shutting off the fuel flow that is common and why the gas is coming out the vent worst case the float has cracked and allowed gas inside and will need to be replaced if somebody monkeyed with carb the little tab may need to be adjusted if it is not shutting off the flow when the float bowl is near full while you have the carb apart spray all the other jet-holes with carb cleaner put it back together |
