Re: Yamaha g1 clutch, carb, ?
So it doesnt actually run, just cranks trying to start. That alone most likely cant push the cart. Cable from pedal goes to "back of" governor arm. linkage from governor to carb is self explanatory if its there. Yamaha golf cart website has parts breakdown & pics that may clear it up. If you really did search & cant manage to find it, my buddy has a G1 and i might be able to get him to snap a few pics.

Re: Yamaha g1 clutch, carb, ?
The clutch does not use any cables or direct driver input like a clutch on a car, it decides what to do based on load & engine rpm.

Re: Yamaha g1 clutch, carb, ?
image.jpgYes pics were very helpful. I'm gonna order parts, but I did rig it up temporary. Just to c if it would turn on. Electric motor turns on, but gas engine is not turning on. I checked fuel line, filter, pump, everything seems good. Initially carb was dry but now bowl has gas in it. Just can't figure out why engine is not kicking over. Spark plug is good just not sure if it's getting spark. Don't know how to check that. Gaskets are new and seem good. I'll try n post pics as soon as I figure out how. If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks

Re: Yamaha g1 clutch, carb, ?
The engine has to be running, and it needs some rpm for the centrifugal clutch to engage and start to squeeze the belt. Once that happens, it will turn the rear clutch, and that will turn the wheels.
You need to get it running. Check your compression, spark, fuel. Make sure you have oil in the fuel (85:1). Sometimes the auto oiler gets plugged up etc. Just disconnect that oil hose and premix the fuel, much safer. Do you have a compression tester? If you have fuel, compression, air....the thing should go. Also, that linkage needs to go. I ran my throttle cable all the way to the carb direct, no governor linkage. You'll get more rpm/speed that way. Sometimes people rig these things up and it does more harm than good. Does yours have a little lever on the exhaust manifold? That's a butterfly valve. Make sure you disconnect that linkage and use some wire to hold it open. If that closes at the wrong moment it will not allow it to run. Report back. |

Re: Yamaha g1 clutch, carb, ?
The spark plug is sparking every 2-3 seconds or so. I did premix the gas in the tank. I know there's gas in the bowel of the carg I checked. How do I know for sure if it's getting right amount of gas.
