clutch or differential problem
ok i just read the post by woodkitten about the sand dunes. my cart may have something wrong too. its got a stock 295? i believe. i put the shorter belt for a two stroke on there. it helps it climb alot better. when in reverse it pulls like crazy and takes of fast. however in forward it starts moving with just the electric starter motor on and not the gas. which is fine with me, but when i stomp it, it doesnt just get up and go. it feels like its slipping but i know the belt has to be tight if it pulls with just the electric motor. after it gets going a ways it finally gets in high gear. what might be the cause or is it normal

Re: clutch or differential problem
Your clutch problems should be the same in forward and reverse because the directional change is made inside the trans-axle......the only difference you may feel is some lower gearing in reverse?

Re: clutch or differential problem
The belts to tight!!! We used to put more tension in the driven clutch
by turning the helix a 1/3 of a turn more this preloads the spring more inturn overcoming the drive clutch letting the engine rev higher before it starts moving...Just my $.02 Todd |
