Default Wheel Bearing Conversion

I bought a 87 G2 and have been cleaning and improving it for my personal uses. I was checking the front end and found the front wheels turned very rough. When I took it apart it has ball bearings -- all rusty open cassette style. No seals at all on the bearing.

I did my homework and have converted it to standard automotive tapered roller bearings. There is increased surface area in this type bearing for better strength and better life. If anyone is interested in strengthening there front suspension here are the bearing numbers. Use a OEM seal and replace the nylock nut with a slotted castle nut. M14x1.5

Timken cone and race set #32005 for the inside.
Timken cone and race set #30204 for the outside.

I've been trying to edit this post -- the inside bearing number is 32005 on the wheel bearing conversion.

Hi all first time posting, long time lurker. Anyone know if Shepards above reference will work on a 95 G-14? Are the spindles the same for both applications? This is indeed great info. Thanks!!!

According to this -- the same hub is used on all models Yamaha. This should work for you. Remember to replace the ny-lock nut with a slotted nut -- M14-1.5

I have to ask as its not listed, will this also work with the G1? Never mind that I now see the note saying it doesn't fit the g1. That's a shame as id like to upgrade to the taper roller bearing.....
