G11 Tires Rubbing
I was given a 1996 Yamaha G11 Utility gas golf cart that I want to use for lightweight yard work needs. The rear tires are rubbing the frame. The tires are these: Cheng Shin C874 Bias Rear Tire 21x10-8 (2 Ply) TM06651000
How can I cheaply lift this cart (trying to find the economy block lift kits for this model)? Or is there another way to stop the rubbing? Not concerned about looks just want it to work. Thank you |

Re: G11 Tires Rubbing
Is the cart setting lower in the back than the front? If so you could just lift the back slightly.
Pictures of the rear end setup and how the shocks attach would be a plus. |

Re: G11 Tires Rubbing
Thank you for reply. Here are a few pictures. Main rubbing is on right rear and some on left rear too but less contact there.
Please let me know if you have any ideas-looking for cheapest way to stop rubbing. |

Re: G11 Tires Rubbing
Start by straightening/replacing the bent panhard bar. Also, it looks like you could use a new drive belt. A new one will ride higher in the secondary.

Re: G11 Tires Rubbing
Thank you. I was thinking that bar didn't look right. Will try to straighten however, just in case need to replace, I was searching for a new one online and cannot seem to find one. Would this part have a different name?

Re: G11 Tires Rubbing
I hate to even say it because I don't like them, but have you considered just getting some 1" wheel spacers and "be done with it".

Re: G11 Tires Rubbing
Hi-no did not think of the spacers but that will be fine for my use. i just need this cart for light yard work and hauling tools etc. I will look for them but if you wouldn't mind sending link to source that would be great!
thank you very much! |

Re: G11 Tires Rubbing
Addendum to last reply...did quick search but these spacers are expensive and wouldn't they just push the wheel out and it would still rub?

Re: G11 Tires Rubbing
I was under the impression the rubbing was the frame & inner wheel well liner. If it's rubbing the body, spacers won't help.
