Default G1 Occasional Bogging Down

Guys,

Trying to get the kinks out of my G1 project. Cart runs good in a general sense with regard to starting / stopping at it should. I have the governor adjusted all the way out and it gets me 15 mph or so which is fine.

I am having an interesting issue when at speed, though. The cart runs great for say 60 secs or so then bogs down for a few seconds. It will then catch up and run great for another 60 seconds and then bog down again for a few seconds. This cycle continues non-stop. The affect is almost exactly like when you are running a warmed up cart then pull the choke out causing the cart bog and run rough until the extra fuel is burned off. This cart hadn't been run in years before I resurrected it and I was hoping that things would smooth out with some driving but they haven't.

Cart has a new carb and a new fuel pump on it and runs great for those 60 secs so I have doubts that I having a "not enough fuel" issue. If anything, I am getting too much. I have adjusted the mix down to the point where the cart was barely running and that didn't fix the issue.

I am thinking of bypassing the governor to make sure it is't gumming things up. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I should add that the front part of the governor, the exhaust lever mechanism part, is disconnected from rest of the governor linkage at the carb. The exhaust lever is just swinging freely there. It was like that when I got the cart. I don't see how it can be affecting anything but thought I should throw that information out there regardless.

Had this issue once with new carb float was set to low take the carb off pull off the bowl and hold carb level blow air into the fuel inlet and raise the float should close off the air when the float is level as for the exhaust butterfly I take them out but just wire it so it stays open all the time
