Battery Not charging during run
Hi all,
I LOVE my G1! Its been an incredible farm machine! But I have noticed that the battery doesn't charge, and so periodically I have to charge it with a battery charger. It starts quick and runs great when the battery is up. Easy trouble shooting tips? I'm not real good with electrical stuff, but may not be electrical. Maybe loose belt, corrosion on terminals, etc etc. Thanks! Brent |

Re: Battery Not charging during run
Check all connections for loose or corroded if it had a original oem voltage regulator it can by adjusted there's a Phillips head screw with a 7 mm jam nut (if I remember correctly) loosen the jam nut and screw the screw in until you hit 14.5iah volts if adjusting the screw doesn't work you may have a faulty vr

Re: Battery Not charging during run
I'll try it tonight. I assume it needs to be running and either lifted off ground or pull the V-belt...

Re: Battery Not charging during run
You may want to check those starter brushes while you're at it. There are 4 of them in there and they don't wear evenly between the 4. If one is too worn the other 3 won't be able put out enough V to charge the battery.
Pull the starter off, pop off the rubber brush cover things, and check the brushes. They have lines engraved on the sides of them to let you know when they are too worn. If you can't see the lines then you need to replace the brushes. |

Re: Battery Not charging during run
I'm thinking if the s/g wires work good enough to start it, they should also be able to charge it (including the brushes), so I would start at the voltage regulator.

Re: Battery Not charging during run
Awesome tips, thanks much!
I didn't get time to work on it this week, but this weekend is looking promising for this job. Again, thanks! |
