Default Gen1 charging help

Have a 82 gen1 gas cart having charging issues need better explanation of how to test the generator and solenoid to see if there workinf battery was checked at auto zone baught a multimeter bit not to knowledgeable with it

Also once warmed up cart will bog down have new plug air filter coming

Just put a tester on the battery should have around 12.5v. If it charges it will go higher running no charge it goes lower, note the gen does not charge much at idle and charges more at higher rpm. G1 cart you will need to lift the rear tires to run it or take the drive belt off. Worn belt will also make it bog at 1" wide they are shot. Then check wiring and grounds, if good it may be the voltage regulator. Some of those older ones are adjustable you take the cover off. Set it to 13.5 or so.
