It was the rev limiter box on the front of the engine. I had already replaced it with a brand new one and was still having the issue so I didn’t think that’s what it was. Had a lot of people tell me to change that so I took a gamble and bought another new one and that fixed it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Hard to start
Are you using the choke to start it? It may be really difficult to start without the choke.

Re: Hard to start
You need to disassemble and thoroughly clean your carb. If it’s above 60° outside air temp it shouldn’t need to be choked at all. If it’s 30° out then maybe you need to push the choke 2-3 times to get it running, but you should never have to use it to keep the engine running.

I've got a Chinese one coming for backup. I did strip and clean mine but made no difference. I can get a factory carb but it's 350 aud! |

Re: Hard to start
Simple and cost effective fixes include:
1.) REPLACE all fuel lines. 2.) REPLACE vacuum pulse line to fuel filter. 3.) Wire brush "air breather" on face of fuel pump...allows it to breath (seen this clogged and no start). 4.) CHANGE both acorn filters in the fuel lines. 5.) Check for BAD GAS (old gas) or WATER IN GAS. Ethanol does that. 6.) CHARGE the battery. 7.) Use the battery charger to assist when diagnosing run issues rather than depleting the battery. 8.) CLEAN and CLEAR the carburetor of micro-debris that got sucked in there from contaminated lines. Often, the above will get your cart back on the street and that whole R&R (provided you have the parts in hand) takes less than 45 minutes. |

Re: Hard to start
In your cases Bean843 and Woore44...you each could have generator / generator brush issues.
Read through this 2010 thread: Generator 101. See if any of it rings true for you. |
