Default Unitized Transaxle Wont Shift using shift lever

I have a 2012 Gas Club Car Precedent. Without warning one day it would not shift into reverse. After testing the cable I found that the problem was with the Synchronizer Gear Assembly. I can easily shift it by hand, but when I try to use the lever to shift it, it binds up and will not shift. I expect parts of this system are worn which are allowing it to bind up but I can not figure out which parts of this gear set I need to purchase to repair the problem.

Sounds like one of the synchronizer rings is jammed to the hub. This seems to be kind of a common issue on the newer carts.

The fix seems to be to drive it at speed, then slam on the brakes and jam it into the opposing gear at the same time. Sounds crude, but apparently it works. Ask David at revolution about it. He's probably dealt with it more than anyone else here.

I would recommend changing the oil in the transaxle. Old oil has been known to cause synchro rings to jam in older jeeps, and other manual transmissions that use a similar synchro setup. It won't un-jam it, but it can help prevent it from jamming again.

Good Morning Fairtax4me. Thanks for your help. I had read about slamming in it reverse and tried it once. After that I removed the transaxle and tore it apart. The sychronizer looks fine and I can shift it by hand but it will not shift using the lever. I ordered the brass rings and all bearings so I hope that is all I need.
I will keep you posted when the parts come in.

Did you remove the synchro hub and rings from the input shaft already? We’re the brass rings stuck to the hub or to the gears?
Was there anything wrong with the way the shift selector was engaged in the hub? Any of the dog teeth on the hub or rings damaged? Were all three of the spring blocks and both snap rings still in place in the middle of the hub?

Syncro Hub and rings removed. Nothing stuck. I did not pay attention to shift lever engaged in hub when I removed it but when I re-engage it and try to shift it, it will not shift. However I can shift it by hand. I will check dog teeth for damage. Spring blocks and snap rings were in place.
