Default 1996 Club Car loss of compression

Mechanic says that the compression checks at 150 until hot then drops to 50.

He is not sure what problem is and has had cart for almost three weeks, reaching out for suggestions. Please and thank you.

I'd adjust the valves and see if it makes a difference.

if not, then when the compression drops low, pour some oil into the spark plug hole and check and see if it comes up.

loss of compression on these can really only be 3 possibilities. not that hard to figure out. Valves, Rings, or head gasket. Aside from something uncommon like a cracked head or something, there's really not much else to it that I can think of. These little engines aren't really advanced or difficult to work on. Honestly if the mechanic has had it for 3 weeks and can't figure out what's wrong with it, I'd probably question their skills and take it somewhere else. I can completely rebuild an entire cart - motor, paint, body, suspension, etc. in 3 weeks just working in the evenings...

Id agree with CP, if your mechanic can’t figure out why a 1 cylinder golf cart engine doesn’t have compression, probably need to find another mechanic.
compression doesn’t just all of a sudden go away for no reason. That’s likely a valve adjustment issue.

I agree with the above too. Have a golf cart mechanic look at it.

Ive never even heard of one doing what your describing.
