2010 club car runs backwards when I stop

My 2010 club car...starts great..after running it for a bit or when the motor warms up and I let off the gas pedal the cart runs backwards. when I go to start it again it takes longer to start because of it going backwards? this also happened a couple years ago on a different club car we had and husband had a heart attack and does not remember what he did to correct it...it only stayed corrected a month or 2..any help on this new cart we got this year would be appreciated. we do have new micro switches but have not installed in the new 2010 cart....I also remember him doing something with seafoam on the older cart a few years ago,,,he does not remember that either, please help...I need my cart. I know it is bothering him and I want to do what I can to help solve the mystery...thanks all..

Its usually 1 of 2 things. The carb isn't closing a the way when you let off the pedal. You'll probably find that either

1. The screw on the top of the carb needs to be loosened a bit to let the throttle plate close all the way. Or

2. Thr cable running from the governor to the carb is sticking either from dirt or damage, and not allowing the carb to close all the way.

50/50 could be either one, but these 2 things cause 99.9% of these problems.

A worn throttle butterfly shaft will cause "dieseling" as well.

Thanks big mule for responding. We haven't tried anything yet but this weekend we will be able to hopefully solve the problem with the help of all of your responses. I will update you on this.
